Eid Al Fitr Concert Al Ain 2023: Indoor Concert IT Case Study

How IP Care delivered indoor concert WiFi, point-to-point microwave backhaul, CCTV surveillance and live stream uplink for the Eid Al Fitr Concert at an indoor arena in Al Ain, UAE, serving 5,000 attendees across a festival weekend in April 2023.

Overview

The Eid Al Fitr Concert 2023 brought a major live music event to an indoor arena in Al Ain, UAE across the Eid Al Fitr holiday weekend, drawing 5,000 attendees and requiring reliable IT infrastructure for spectator connectivity, venue operations, CCTV surveillance and live stream broadcast uplink.

IP Care was engaged to deliver the complete technology layer for the event: indoor concert WiFi for attendee and operational connectivity, point-to-point microwave backhaul to connect the venue to external WAN capacity, CCTV for venue security and crowd management, and live stream uplink infrastructure for the broadcast feed.

Indoor venue connectivity in Al Ain.

Indoor concert venues present specific RF challenges: concrete and steel structures create multipath interference, high attendee density generates co-channel contention, and the mix of spectator devices, production equipment and operations traffic requires careful network segmentation to maintain performance across all user types simultaneously.

IP Care deployed a high-density indoor WiFi architecture across the arena floor, stage production zones and operational areas, with access points positioned for maximum coverage and minimal interference. Network segments were separated for spectator, production and operations traffic, with QoS policy enforcing priority for production and uplink traffic throughout the event.

Point-to-point backhaul.

The indoor arena required external WAN connectivity for live stream uplink and operational internet access. IP Care deployed a point-to-point microwave backhaul link to deliver the required capacity into the venue, providing a reliable and sufficient uplink for both the live stream feed and general operational connectivity.

CCTV and crowd management.

With 5,000 attendees across a festival weekend, venue security and crowd management required comprehensive CCTV coverage of the arena floor, entrance and exit points, stage perimeter and operational areas. IP Care deployed and managed the CCTV layer for the duration of the event, providing the security team with full venue visibility throughout both event days.

Live stream uplink.

The Eid Al Fitr Concert was broadcast live, requiring a reliable uplink connection with sufficient bandwidth for the production feed. IP Care managed the live stream uplink infrastructure, ensuring consistent connectivity between the production team and the broadcast destination throughout the performance.

Al Ain event capability.

IP Care's Eid Al Fitr Concert deployment demonstrates the company's capability to deliver event IT infrastructure across the UAE, not only in Abu Dhabi and Dubai but in Al Ain and other Emirates. The same end-to-end service model, WiFi, backhaul, CCTV and broadcast support, applies regardless of venue location.

Questions & Answers

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the WiFi challenges in an indoor concert venue?

Indoor venues create RF challenges that outdoor events do not: concrete and steel cause multipath interference, high attendee density generates co-channel contention, and the combination of spectator devices, production equipment and operations traffic requires careful network segmentation. IP Care addresses these through high-density access point deployment, careful channel planning to minimise interference, and network segmentation with QoS policy to protect production and broadcast traffic from spectator load.

Why is point-to-point backhaul needed for indoor venues?

Many indoor arenas and concert venues do not have sufficient fixed WAN connectivity for large events, particularly for live stream uplink which requires consistent, guaranteed bandwidth. Point-to-point microwave backhaul allows IP Care to bring external WAN capacity directly into the venue, bypassing the limitations of the venue's existing connectivity infrastructure.

Does IP Care deliver events outside Abu Dhabi and Dubai?

Yes. IP Care delivers event IT infrastructure across the UAE. The Eid Al Fitr Concert in Al Ain is one example. The same end-to-end service model applies regardless of venue location: RF survey, network design, on-site deployment, CCTV, broadcast support and on-site operations.

Can you handle CCTV and WiFi under one engagement?

Yes. IP Care's ELV and networking capability means CCTV, access control and IT infrastructure can be delivered under a single engagement with one point of contact. For event clients this removes the coordination overhead between separate AV, IT and security contractors.
